Welcome to WEPROG
WEPROG stands for Weather and Energy PROGnoses and is providing realtime ensemble predictions to the wind energy community and weather forecasts to companies that can improve their efficency by knowing the uncertainty in the weather and/or specific weather parameters.
WEPROG has developed a unique operational short-range ensemble prediction system based on a multi-scheme ensemble prediction approach in order to provide a solution to a problem that has been researched extensively over the past two decades, both in meteorology and wind engineering. The multi-scheme ensemble approach provides information about a crucial parameter: physical uncertainty of the weather development.
WEPROG operates and maintains several Linux clusters distributed over 3 countries for maximum redundancy and security that are continuously producing forecasts. Real-time weather products are generated four times per day at 00,06,12,18 UTC and up to 180 hours ahead for all continents.
WEPROG operates on a 24/7 basis, where forecasting of weather related derivates such as wind power and solar power take place in the short-term with schedules down to 10min. WEPROG's inverted Ensemble Kalman Filter technique provides the basis of such forecasting products that require data assililation with customer specific measurements.
